so here i am again, long stretches between hellos.. most likely no one bothers to come to my little corner here on the web.. its raining again, wind howling past, and i'm on my trusty front patio, enjoying the chill in the air and the almost peaceful quiet. its that windy my laptop was nearly blown off my lap as i was booting it up..

so i dont know if that much has happened since i have last ranted about useless rubbish.. i have a new job now, i'm a week into it.. in one of the largest engineering firms in australia.. i dont know if that is in the world too.. there are 3500 staff that cover virtually anything you could think of, and thats just under the main company.. its all rather impressive and daunting at the same time. the other job got pretty old towards the end.. its a bit hard to believe sometimes how personalities change when you're leaving a company, i somehow think though, that not all people act the same as i experienced. a friend of mine, who is contracting at my old work, i have known her for a good 8 years and we've always kept in touch.. the office manager decided that because she was still socialising with me after i quit, that he wouldnt talk to her and wouldnt give her work anymore. there are other bits and pieces but its all just rubbish, you wouldnt believe.

anyway, enough of that.. the new place, it blows it away, they like to make sure that you're doing things right, they train you up on the ways of the company.. its hard to explain, the difference is amazing.

the coroner didnt find a cause for nathan's death either. the death certificate came in the mail exactly 12 weeks from the day he died, and just listed that he was disabled and was overweight as the reasons.. so reasons without finding a reason, its hard to understand or accept i suppose, but that is what our family doctor has said.

i bought myself a new pushbike too.. so about bike number 5 lol.. but i'm going to sell all the old ones bar one. i rode the bike to the train station to give it a good test run the day i bought it and its such a pleasure to ride. i've put my name down for a bike locker and when its available, i'll be riding to the train station every day, except days like today.. i think i'd get blown off of the bridge.

so its another tropical wintery afternoon, enjoying the sun on the front patio.. killswitch engage dvd cranked up on the home theatre much to the neighbours distaste. i'm in a little of a quandry of sorts.. i have been made a job offer, and my current work have put the huge guilt trip on me for wanting to leave. i dont know if i should stay or if i should go. dont know. i really dont.

meanwhile i'll just sit here and enjoy the sun. so shiny. lol.

good old nine inch nails blasting out in surround sound goodness.. although surround sound doesnt do me a whole lot of good while i'm sitting on my patio in the wintery sun. the weather is good.. seems i'm climatising.. with 12 degree mornings making me put long pants on.

last weekend when i was up the coast with my parents, my brother took me on a little journey down to the local supermarket to pick up some stuff to make me smell nice and look clean.. as i accidentally left all that stuff on the floor of the kitchen when i left.. we grabbed all the stuff we needed and there was this funny looking old man, probably pushing 80 or more.. and he was chatting up the barely 18yo check out girl lol.

as he was paying for his groceries, he accidentally dropped some money on the ground, or maybe it wasnt an accident.. cause as he bent down to pick it up, he tried to look up the girls skirt under the counter.. too bad for him the counter is enclosed so there will never be any up skirt perving action for old men ever.. too bad i suppose..

i can sort of imagine myself being like that old guy when i get old.. except i'll be in one of those funky hovering wheelchair things that marty mcfly's dad was in in back to the future 2.. then i'll be able flip it round, hover upside down and gawk down tops instead :P

i'm sitting here on the patio of a block of units up at cloundra. mum and dad had this planned for a while as it ws dads 50th birthday on thursday and its a long weekend this weekend. i bought my laptop for no apparent reason, and now here i am sitting here on some free wireless internets. i'm a little excited, i've never had free internets before. silly people that dont know how to set up a secure wireless network.

its actually quite chilly at the moment as far as brisbane goes. 15 degrees. the surf is roaring away in the distance. quite nice really. always interesting on the baclcony, watching cars fly over the speed bump at close to 60km/hr.

on the downside i'm starting to come down with a cold which is no fun. hopefully it wont hang around too long.

anyway, i'm going to get back to my holiday.

you know, my toes are kind of cold..

so after being back at work for a few days after having a week off, i'm sort of getting my head around the working thing again, i know i've only had a week off, but to be honest, being back at work and going about my daily routine after this last week just seems wrong. the first two days were real slow, then today, things kicked into gear, sort of.

i spent monday sorting out a few things that i meant to get done earlier, just mundane house keeping things so that i kept myself occupied. tuesday was much the same, but i did some cad checks and helped out a bit more with the cad staff when they needed help.

today however, i get a call from the guy at wendy's head office (yeh the ice cream place) i design there shops for them, at least the hydraulics side of things.. and i have maybe 9 of them to do, which i was working on the week that nathan died.. that weekend, i emailed the 2 most senior guys at the office and let them know what jobs i had to be done that were urgent. i knew that we had a bit of spare manpower up our sleeve and that people could afford to cover me during the week.

anyway, long story short, or boring story less boring, nick asks me where the wendy's stuff is. he never saw a drawing while i was away. each store, although is only tiny, should take the average person a day to complete from start to finish. there are a few time consuming tasks involved in making sure that everything is right, and all the t's are dotted and the i's are crossed.. i only asked for 2 of the stores to be done out of the 9, not a big ask i though, but it seems i was wrong.

so today, i find i have to play catch up on those two stores, then have another 2 complete from scratch tomorrow, and another 2 by monday at the latest. i knew the deadlines were looming, but.. i dont know. its just a little bit on the crap side of things. always the same story when you ask certain people to help at work it seems.

all this though makes it ok for me to hate people yes? or maybe not hate, maybe just ambush them with a volley of paint ball slugs.. would certainly brighten up my day at least..

something i was doing a lot the last few weeks, or maybe thats months, was working overtime. i'd hang back until 6 or 7pm finishing stuff off that i didnt get to during the day. its all good to be the CAD manager, IT manager/support guy and a designer, it would be even better if i got paid seperately for all three jobs, but the thing that sucks about it is the amount of work that i *dont* get done. running around like a chook with my head cut off helping people with IT and CAD troubles makes meeting deadlines for design work is just that little bit harder.

but right now, i'm out on my front porch in the rain.. not in the rain rain, but the fake rain.. well no, i lie, there is real rain, but i'm undercover, otherwise my laptop would be quite sad. i'm working which sucks, but i'm at home which is far better than only just getting home around this time. the work i was finishing off a fruit store out at ipswich. it specialises in organic fruit and vegetables. probably a total waste of effort on the owners part, as ipswich folk would most likely not understand.

more importantly i suppose, its raining! it rained all night last night, and then all day today.. and not that useless drizzle rubbish either.. real rain filled with bacon & cheese! i'm quite enjoying the quiet here on the patio, the 18 degree heat (lol) and the pattering of rain on the awning. (yes kip, awning lol.. and no its not beige) makes me home sick for melbourne this weather.. cold, rainy.. awnings.. just brilliant.

only problem with the rain is that i decided to deliver some drawings to an architect today whose office i thought was right near where i wanted to buy lunch.. boy was i wrong.. after about 20mins of trudging through the downpour i finally get there.. you'd think i'd have turned back.. but no, didnt even cross my mind to do that until later.. stoopid.

anyway, is time for me to wander off to bed.. i havent been sleeping well since losing nathan.. so i figure if i get to bed earlier, and actually fall asleep, then at least if i wake up in the middle of the night like i have been, at least i will have slept for longer first.. and i'm almost certain the only person that makes sense to is me.

the coroner phoned my parents today, and they cannot find an obvious cause for nathan's death. we were hoping for an answer, but unfortunately got nothing. we're still further confused. i've downloaded a copy of the final pirates of the carribean movie for him, which i've put on a dvd. he loved his movies so much, mum was getting ready to take him to the movies just before matthew (my other brother) tried to wake him and found him. sad times indeed.

i had to go to the funeral home today to help with the preparation.. you wouldnt believe it, they have a coffin named 'the black pearl' so sure enough, thats what we've gotten him. (the black pearl being the name of the ship in pirates of the carribean)

nathan's funeral will be on thursday at 2pm. i'm not looking forward to it. poor little guy. he should be there, right now, on msn, messaging me as quickly as he can type (which wasnt very fast mind you) telling me of all the great new movies and games coming up in the next few months.. but he's not..

my little brother died in his sleep last night/this morning. i am absolutely devastated.

the little fella was going to be 21 in november. :'(

thats him in the middle with my dad and other brother.

his actual cause of death is unknown. he was picked up by the coroner and will have an autopsy. they say we'll know in a week.

so today i wandered into borders to pick up a book to read. i never thought i'd get into anne rice but i'm moving along to the 4th book in the vampire chronicles - the tale of the body theif. anyway, as it goes, much to my dissapointment, borders had every single one of the books except the one i wanted, and dymocks down the road didnt have it either.

but what does this have to do with anything? well nothing i suppose, except for the strange people i encountered at borders. i had to step over and around people every corner i took, nealy standing on some kid in the graphic novels section of the store.. and the magazine section.. well, needless to say it was worse. i was beginning to wonder how this store made its money, with nearly every second person sitting on the floor reading books. the other thing i started to wonder about was if these people bookmark the books they read, or turn the corner of the page as i so often do.. i mean the last thing i'd want to do after paying $30 for a book is to get it home and find some cheap skates bookmark in the book, or find all these dog eared pages from where people have gotten up to on their latest lunchbreak.

the magazine and graphic novels sections were the worst though, as far as the quality of the books that is, they were all bent up and folded and falling apart.. i couldnt believe it. so anyway, off to amazon to get a book i suppose. stupid books stores never seeming to have what i want.

so the rather large neighbours with booming voices are out on their front porch smoking. i wonder if they realise that they talk stupidly loud, and seem to whisper louder. eugh.

Yes, its been a while between hello's, but I find I have not a lot interesting to add to my little blog of doom these days. There is something about brisbane, at least I think its something about Brisbane, that kind of sucks the creativity out of me. i don’t know if its that I'm not hanging out in Collingwood with junkies and bums anymore, hence leaving no amusing antics to observe and then write about.. or maybe my askew view of the mundane goings on of life just isn’t there anymore, but something.. yes, something, it may have been that giraffe that stole my brain meats.. but I'm not so sure..

Speaking of giraffes, i want to give one some lsd just to see what happens when he looks at himself.. it'd be kinda "woaah my spots are made of lava" as he watches the dance of his funny looking coat. Hopefully he doesn’t freak out when he realizes that lava hurts like a bitch, and then run around screaming "get 'em off me! Get 'em off me! Laaaavaaaaa"

I thought I'd mention something about my latest idea of money making schemery. I call it, the man-snaggery. An alternative to your 3am kebab shop stop, you could rock on down to the man-snaggery.. The ladies and 'trendy' folk alike will love it.. cause lets admit it, they all love a bit of man snag. It'd be a simple menu, like hot dogs with mayonnaise and an optional side of meatballs.. or hot dogs with one end chocolate dipped.. and once a month there could be special when you get chunky tomato sauce free with every mayo covered hot dog you buy. Just think, hanging out at your favourite club and then telling your friends you're just stepping out for a bit of man snag.

so liz wants an update.. yes i've been a bit slack on the blog side of things, so very busy lately.. but cleaning out the fridge and i've got something to write about.. and that is that there are some things that the normal human being will never ever in their life time learn, that is, until they have a housemate or boarder.

today, i discovered that when mushrooms are left in the fridge for longer than what they really should be, they fuse themselves to the plastic container your housemate bought them in. you can throw the container around, give it a good kick, blow it up or if you're daring enough, wear it on your head and the mushrooms will not detach themselves from their little home. i noticed some jiggling as i kicked the packaging across the room for my own entertainment, but otherwise those little mushrooms were sitting pretty.

another weird and wonderful fact that i discovered is that sausages when left in the fridge for, oh, maybe 4 even 5 weeks, basically turn to a mushy slop.. yes thats right, they couldnt just be described as slop, it was mushy slop, not to mention many other adjectives that describe such things.

another thing you discover is all the weird and wonderful shades of green and brown and the fact that not even a freezer can save some food from the inevitable. but i'm pretty sure i've been through all this before. de ja vu anyone?

excessive prolonged small talk sucks. you're in a hurry cause you're busy, and people insist on asking you the usual monday morning mundane questions. how was your weekend? so you got a haircut? (really i didnt notice) what time did you get in this morning? etc etc. argh!

i guess its not as bad as people that dont talk at all. the ones that stand there at the end of your desk, and just hover, not saying anything. you ask them if they want something and they either say no yet continue to stand there in silence or hurridly make their way off somewhere else.

why is it that after an eternity of evolution and survival of the fittest does the lowest of the human race still survive? the kind that abuse you as you casually pass them on the road, only to road rage you and carry on like total fuckwits regardless of if you retaliate or ignore them. the ones that live off of government benefits without any intention of ever working, further cashing it in by spitting out kids like sausages to collect the $4000 bonus from the government. you'd think by now they would have all perished, in fact, it seems that the procreation of these neanderthals is promoted by the people that run the country.

sometimes i think the worst and figure a gun is the only solution, with the common folk of the world destroying these blockheads as they cross their path. but violence is never the answer. unless of course its done with a dollop of devilish humour.

so in comes glue, feathers, small soft top 4wd's, potatoes and.. cannons.

i mean we've all seen the videos on youtube of people and their potato guns.. mount one of these babys on a suzuki vitara and cruise around putting these people out of their misery while at the same time bursting into fits of hysterical laughter at the same time. i mean its not just the potato meeting its doomed target in a potatoey splatter of doom, its the loud 'thok' noise that the potato makes as it quickly exits the contraption made to launch it into oblivion.

if you're not one to want to inflict pain into your mortal dullard enemies, then some kind of arrangement with glue, feathers and one of these cannons pointing in the direction of said foe. like homers shotgun that puts makeup on marge, the feather cannon could make anyone look a treat while bringing great satisfaction to yourself.

one of my pet hates is people that make commentry on what i do and what i eat. a prime example is 'oh, that jolt cola will kill you you know'

really? wow. thanks for letting me know. how about you get that damn ciggarette out of my face?

recently i've been bringing in my lunch to try save some money. i'm no entirely sure if it works, because my food bill has nearly tripled, i'm not so sure i was spending that much on buying a fresh sandwhich and a drink every day. the first day i bought in my own food, i made a salad with a bit of salami thrown in for good measure, so basically what i normally have every day, minus the bread.

as expected, i get my food out of the fridge, and some smart ass makes the comment 'oh yeh ryan, about time you ate something healthy'

wtf?

is bread all of a sudden the evil unhealthy fruit of the devil that has come to kill us all? or has the salad in my sandwhiches really been solidified lard disguised as salad, and the bread glued together sugar cubes?

i wish people would just shut the hell up and mind their own business sometimes.

today however, i didnt bring my lunch as i slept in and didnt have time to make up some food. so i wandered down to one of the local stores and bought a veggie bake. i get back to the office to find it was more of a hot oil with a hint of veggie bake. pretty gross, i feel so dirty.

i plan to wake up early tomorrow.

there was this strange old lady on the train today, looked sort of upper class, dressed up to the nines, hair done to perfection.. she sat there with an open novel, and never read a word. she just stared into space the entire journey, in a world of her own. its where we should be.

so i havent updated in a while, no one has probably noticed lol.. but i've been busy working on my house. i bought a house about 2 months ago, and for the last month i've been working on it making it nice and shiny on the inside.. i have some before and after pics.

the old guy that used to live in my house, he was a smoker, and he smoked inside continuously. the walls were quite filthy with cigarette stains.. but now they're all shiny :) yay!

so here we go, some before & after pictures..

the loungeroom - hasnt been painted yet.. floorboards were polished before i moved in.

my bedroom - the walls were covered in smoke stains.. the walls had to be washed and scrubbed and painted.. the floor had lino down - absolute pain to pull up cause so much glue was used.

the 2nd bedroom. it used to be a horrible lilac colour with purpley brown lino tiles.

the 3rd bedroom.. was smoke stained and light blue, complete with light blue lino - why all the lino? i dont know.. but its all gone now thankfully!

and the kitchen.. i dont have a before pic, but it had lino too - although i didnt mind this lino, it came up too.

and thats the outside.. complete with a ramp for when your not capable to walk up 3 stairs :P i'm keeping how it is on the outside at the moment cause i've spent way too much money on the inside - but it was worth it.

so there you go, that is my house :)

there are quite a few support groups around for eating disorders.. i cant even name them all cause there are simply too many (ok and i have no idea what they're called) but if you have anorexia, there is a support group.. bulimia? no worries.. there are people to help you out..

but.. what about the people that want to get into an eating disorder? you've seen them around.. people carrying a few extra pounds with them that they wouldnt mind getting rid of.. they've tried all the herbal rubbish that never works.. they've even tried to get diet pills from their doctor but with no luck.. where do they turn?

no where.

thats right.. anorexia is a hard thing to get into. it takes commitment, it takes strength.. these people need support too!

stand up for your rights and fight discrimination.. start a support group for your favourite eating disorder today!

buy me now! i'm cheap! says the thursday cd at jb-hifi. shiny things with fluorescent stickers to suck me in, and suck me in it did. i had wandered over to to city from south brisbane for something to do at lunch time.. trying to force myself to save money, i limited my lunch time spendings to what was in my wallet - $3.60.

strolling into the night owl on adelaide street i discovered they sold my magic elixir - jolt cola - $2.79. easy. withing my humble monetary limits. too easy. continuing along with a grand total of 80c in my wallet, i walked into jb-hifi.. straight away i headed for the bargain bin.. tdk headphones marked down to $22, excellent, i'll take them. i scooted down to the cd section.. looked around aimlessly at cd's only to spot the self titled 'she wants revenge' cd.. yoink! i'll take that too!

dont grab anything else! my $3.60 budget has flown out the window.. i hurriedly made my way up the stairs to the registers, turned my head to the left, and there is thursday's 'city by the light divided' disc.. mocking me with its fluro pink sticker with $16.99 standing boldly to get my attention and a big 'buy me now i'm cheap' sticker across it too.. thursday deserve my money.. i grabbed it too.

so much for saving.

so i made my way back to work, across the bridge and back to south brisbane, happily carrying my jb-hifi bag full of goodies. damn brisbane is hot. stupid weather. i'm going to need to buy some stubbies and fit in with the brisbane crowd in summer.. hairy white legs hanging out the bottom in all their pasty glory.

i sit myself back down at my desk and open up the headphones.. plug them in (damn they got a 4m cord!) and they sound horrible. typical. spend money your shouldnt be spending and you spend it on sub par guff. so i've offloaded them to my little brother. he's happy as larry.
